Paul Robinson has claimed that Wolves winger Adama Traore would be an “incredible impact player” for Liverpool if he signs for them this summer.

Traore came through the ranks with Barcelona. He only made one senior appearance for them before he went onto have spells at Aston Villa and Middlesbrough.

After performing well for Middlesbrough, Wolves signed him ahead of the 2018/19 season for around £18m.

Traore had a quiet first season before he shone for Wolves in the Premier League in 2019/20. He got four goals and nine assists from his 37 appearances in the top flight.

The winger was disappointing for Wolves last term but he is being linked with a move to Liverpool. Football Insider have reported that the Reds have “made an approach” for Traore.

Robinson has suggested that Traore has “come on leaps and bounds” over the past year:

“I think he will be an incredible impact player for Liverpool next season if he joins. He is someone who I would love to see him at Tottenham,” he told Football Insider.

“I was very surprised Enrique didn’t use him more at the Euros. I really rate him. He brings such an impetus going forward.

“He has come on leaps and bounds in the last 12 to 18 months and I think wherever he goes he will do well.

“Jota has managed to infiltrate that Liverpool front three and I don’t think it’s set in stone anymore who will play. He wouldn’t start every game but his pace and directness would be a huge asset to them.

“Traore would have an impact wherever he goes. He is a top player. I’m sure many clubs in the Premier League are looking at him.”

Elsewhere, John Barnes has suggested that Declan Rice would be a “good fit” for Liverpool:

“There have been suggestions that Declan Rice is a target for Liverpool and he would be a good fit for them. Liverpool like central midfield players who work hard.

“Declan Rice isn’t going to come in and score lots of goals, he’s not going to be creative, he’s not a midfield player like David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne or Ilkay Gundogan, but Liverpool don’t need that.

“The kind of players Liverpool need are players like Rice or Yves Bissouma, hard-working midfield players who get the ball forward, make tackles, win the ball and keep it quite simple.

“He’s similar to Jordan Henderson in that way. So if he wants to come to Liverpool, he has the right profile for them.”
