Real Madrid are ready to take negotiations over Raphael Varane’s potential move to Man Utd down to the wire this summer, according to reports.

It has been widely reported that there is an agreement in principle between the France international and the Red Devils over a five-year deal at Old Trafford, if Varane gets the green light from Real.

Man Utd and Real Madrid  are reportedly in negotiations over a transfer with both clubs looking to agree an acceptable fee for the 28-year-old.

Ignore baseless opinions, Varane could be signing of the season

It has been one of the biggest transfer stories over the past couple of weeks but it is understood that Varane wants to keep his decision to move to Old Trafford a ‘secret’ until the last possible moment.

Despite Real Madrid putting a new contract offer on the table, it is believed that Man Utd are prepared to pay him a lot more and he wants a fresh challenge away from the Bernabeu.

In particular, he is tempted by the lure of the Premier League but he wants to remain respectful to Los Blancos and their president Florentino Perez until they agree a deal.

And now Spanish newspaper AS (via Sport Witness) claims that Real Madrid are ready to play the ‘long game’ with Perez demanding €70m for Varane, while Man Utd are only willing to stump up €40m.

It is said that Varane has been in ‘full agreement’ with the Red Devils for a while now after they offered him a galactic salary’.

Real gave him permission to speak with Man Utd but the two clubs are currently struggling to agree a fee during their ‘official talks’.

It is understood to be an ‘uncomfortable’ situation for Varane but both the clubs have ‘given each other some time’ before coming back to the negotiating table.
