Lille have put midfielder Renato Sanches up for sale this summer amid interest from Spurs, Liverpool and Barcelona, according to reports.
The 23-year-old joined Bayern Munich from Benfica in 2016 for around €35m but his time in Germany did not go to plan, with the midfielder spending a season on loan at Swansea City in 2017/18.
Sanches underperformed for the Swans before Lille broke their transfer record to sign him permanently from Bayern in 2019 for €25m.
Since moving to France, Sanches has started to realise his potential by becoming a key member of the Ligue 1 side’s team.
Premier League sides Liverpool and Arsenal have been rumoured to be ‘keeping tabs’ on Sanches, while another report named him as one of three signings Jurgen Klopp has ‘requested’ at Anfield this summer.
Barcelona have also been linked as they apparently see Sanches as a back-up option if a potential deal for Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez fails.
Lille’s director Olivier Letang admitted at the end of June that he is unsure whether they will be able to keep Sanches this summer.
“There are already some clubs interested because we have had a recent discussion,” Letang said. “But everybody needs to be happy for this to happen.
“I do not know if Renato will stay with us or not. Not yet. Let’s see. But as a top, top-profile player, it’s logical that you get some top clubs that are interested in him.”
And now French publication Le10Sport reckon that Lille have taken a ‘big decision’ over Sanches by deciding to ‘sell the Portuguese player during this summer transfer window’.
They describe Tottenham as being ‘on the spot’ for his signature, while Barcelona have ‘met his entourage to discuss a possible arrival in Catalonia’.
Barca ‘must sell’ before they can move for Sanches – giving Premier League clubs the edge in negotiations – and Le10Sport add that he ‘could well leave Ligue 1 in the coming weeks’.
Speaking recently, Sanches would not be drawn on the transfer rumours, he said: “Regarding my future, these are only your conclusions, I will not comment on the rumors that concern me.”
