A series of updates surrounding the efforts of La Liga giants Real Madrid on the transfer front have come to the fore online this weekend.
The first actually comes in the form of an insight into the financial package secured by a player to have already linked up with Los Blancos this summer.
The individual in question? David Alaba.
Austrian stopper Alaba, on the back of a trophy-laden stint with Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich, of course opted to take his talents to Madrid last month, on the back of the expiration of his contract.
Real, in turn, were not forced to shell out any form of transfer fee, with Alaba having been available as a free agent.
If the latest word doing the rounds in the European media is anything to go by, though, then the versatile full-back’s club-less status did not deter Florentino Perez and co. from committing to a frankly remarkable financial package, en route to clinching his signature.
As revealed by reliable German outlet Der Spiegel, citing leaked documents, Alaba is set to earn a hefty 376,000 pounds-per-week across his 5-year spell in the Spanish capital. This equates to roughly 98 million pounds.
Real’s outlay, though, does not end there.
The Austrian international is also understood to have bagged a 15.1 million pound signing-on fee, whilst agent Pini Zahavi took home a cool 4.4 million.
A further 5.4 million pounds is said to have been dished out to Alaba’s family, too.
These figures, all told, mean that the Bernabeu hierarchy committed to forking over a sum of almost 123 million pounds to lure their latest high-profile addition to La Liga.
Premier League return?
Next up on the list of Real Madrid updates on Saturday comes a fresh insight into the future of Martin Odegaard.
Norwegian creator Odegaard of course returned to the Spanish capital this summer, on the back of a somewhat hit-and-miss loan spell with Arsenal in the Premier League.
Since linking up with Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, though, speculation has only continued to swirl, when it comes to the 22-year-old’s plans for the season ahead.
And, according to journalist Jose Felix Diaz – regarded as reliable when it comes to all things Blancos – Odegaard has still not come to a definitive decision regarding his future:

Adding further intrigue to the midfielder’s situation, meanwhile, are suggestions that another pair of Premier League clubs, alongside Arsenal, have made clear that they would be interested in his services, if Odegaard comes to the conclusion that he wants out of Madrid this summer.
The sides in question? Liverpool and Chelsea.
The info comes courtesy of Spanish outlet Fichajes, who suggest that both clubs would be interested in luring the Norwegian back to England over the coming weeks.
Valverde part of key quintet
Last up on our list of Real Madrid updates comes a look at the group of players set to make up the core of new boss Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.
Italian tactician Ancelotti of course secured a return to Spain this summer, after opting to bring a premature end to an altogether underwhelming stint with Everton.
With key squad members Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos having called time on their respective Blancos careers, and Alaba the only major reinforcement to have come through the door this summer, though, Ancelotti faces a tough job in guiding world football’s biggest club back to the top of Spanish football.
Nevertheless, a further insight on the part of the aforementioned Felix Diaz suggests that Real’s returning boss has already decided on the players set to act as the pillars in his latest venture.
Those in question? Karim Benzema, Federico Valverde, Thibaut Courtois, Vinicius Jr. and David Alaba.
All five of these players are said to have been identified as ‘untouchable’ by Ancelotti:
