Mauricio Pochettino quizzed on PSG’s links to Manchester United’s Paul Pogba following cup final defeat

Manchester United linked with PSG

On the whole, Paul Pogba enjoyed a fairly decent 2020/21 campaign.

The Frenchman had a couple of injury issues, which saw him miss some games.

But when fit, for the most part, Pogba looked in fine form – with the midfielder having provided five assists and three goals in 26 Premier League appearances.

Despite Pogba having been in the midst of a decent season, though, agent Mino Raiola claimed back in December that his client was unhappy at Old Trafford, and that it was ‘over’ for him at Manchester United.

This was followed by Raiola once again attempting to drum up speculation surrounding a potential move to Real Madrid for his client.

Then, last month, the subject of Pogba’s future was again brought to the fore.

ESPN claimed that Man United were set to seek talks with the French international, amid fears that he would run down his contract and leave on a free transfer.

This has again seen the midfielder’s future at Old Trafford called into question. In recent weeks, both Juventus and PSG have been linked with Pogba.

The Mirror, citing French outlet L’Equipe, meanwhile, reported that the Red Devils are willing to part ways with the Frenchman for the correct fee, with those in a position of power in Manchester understood to have agreed on a 51 million pound asking price for the midfielder.

Pochettino quizzed on Paul Pogba

In turn, today, PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has been quizzed on PSG’s links to Paul Pogba.

The Parisians were in cup action vs Lille on Sunday, competing for the Trophee des Champions.

Both sides had a number of key players out due to their various international commitments over the summer.

And, in the end, Lille, just like they did in the league last season, came out on top, thanks to this stunning effort from Xeka:

Following the game, Pochettino was asked by 101GreatGoals if his side’s performance on Sunday convinced him that PSG may require a few more additions, specifically Paul Pogba – to which the Argentine replied:

‘You see the list of the players that we have at home, we have plenty of players. Half of the squad is at home. A few are on holiday. I think the performance was good, I am happy, and I don’t want to talk about names of players who are in other clubs.’
