Former Tottenham player Graham Roberts believes that Cristian Romero will be a brilliant signing for Spurs.
There has been much speculation about Romero joining Spurs recently, with football.london writer Alasdair Gold reporting that Tottenham are closing in on a deal worth in the region of €50m.
Romero helped Atalanta finish third in Serie A last season and qualify for this season’s Champions League. The centre-back made 42 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing five assists.
After Toby Alderweireld departed the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to join Al-Duhail, Spurs have space for a new centre-back to come into the club, but football.london reported towards the end of last season that Spurs would ideally like to bring in two new centre-backs this summer.
Former Spurs player Graham Roberts believes that Romero will be a brilliant signing for the club, exclusively telling Football FanCast: “You know for me, when we get him it’ll be a brilliant signing, absolutely brilliant.”
Should Romero complete his move to Tottenham for the reported €50m, it will be the second-highest transfer fee that Spurs have paid, with the highest being £55m for Tanguy Ndombele.
Romero would become Tottenham’s third summer signing if he completes his move, with goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini also joining from Atalanta and Bryan Gil having completed a move from La Liga side Sevilla.
