Figures from Formula 1 have sent their warmest wishes to MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi, after the nine-time champion announced on Thursday that he would be calling time on his 26-year career at the end of this season.[*******]

Affectionally and famously nicknamed The Doctor, Rossi was yesterday dubbed the “Michael Jordan of motorbikes” by reigning MotoGP champion Joan Mir with plaudits coming in from across the world.[*******]

He won’t hang up his helmet just yet, however, as reports have emerged that the Italian may pursue car racing next season having swapped rides with Lewis Hamilton and tested for Ferrari too.
