Justin Fields saw his first NFL action Saturday in his preseason debut. While some rookies struggle to adapt to the quicker pace of the pro game, he didn’t have any such issue.

“It was actually kind of slow, to be honest,” Fields told reporters after the game, per The Athletic’s Kevin Fishbain. “Going against [the Bears’ defense] every day slows it down for me.”

Fields’ ability to quickly process information showed, and his performance left Bears fans buzzing about the quarterback.

Fields put forth a strong effort in Chicago’s 20-13 win over Miami. He got off to a slow start but then got into a rhythm in the third quarter. He led the Bears on their only two touchdown drives and he was responsible for both scores, one passing and one rushing.

He completed 14 of 20 passes for 142 yards and added another 33 yards rushing.

Fans weren’t the only ones impressed with Fields. Bears coach Matt Nagy spoke after the game about the rookie’s poise.

“The one thing that you felt from Justin . . . was that he was extremely calm the whole time,” Nagy told reporters.

Plenty of prominent athletes joined in the praise on Twitter. LeBron James, Dwayne Haskins, Dez Bryant and media personalities were among those who commented. Below is a handful of the best reactions to Fields’ preseason debut:
